In the late 1850 there was an old man walking down the road and all of the sudden he came across a monkeys paw. The old man’s name was Rani. He was on the road because he was hunting. He needed some meat for his tribe. The Hitachi tribe was a small native tribe in northern India. He put the paw in his pocket. He kept on hunting and had no success. When it was getting dark he looked up to the god, with both hands pointed to the sky, and wished that he could spear an animal. All of the sudden, there was a rustling in the trees.
A massive kudu bull appeared out of the trees. With his spear in his hand he raised his hand and threw the spear at the bull, killing it instantly. The old hunters skinned the animal and drug the carcass back to the tribe’s camp.
When the man got there he got the news that his wife had been killed by a kudu bull and stabbed with its horns. The man felt sorrow.
He wished to the gods again. This time he wished that his life would never be sorrow again.
The next day the man was hunting again only this time he was hunting with his son. They were walking down the same road that the man found the monkeys paw, when out of nowhere, three rhinos came charging down the road. The rhinos charged at the man and his sun. The man dodged them all but his sun wasn’t so lucky. He got mauled by the rhinos and the man watched in absolute horror as this even took place. His son was killed and he felt sorrow again.
When he got back to his tribe, there was a celebration taking to his place a baby had been born. The old man joined in the celebration even though it was so weird not having his sun there.
After the celebration, the man went to bed. He woke up the next day morning, only to find the army soldiers outside. When one of the sergeants stormed into his tent, the old man sat him down and told him all about the monkeys paw. He let the man have the paw even though he didn’t want to. The army sergeant said good bye and left.
The man said to him-self, “I wonder why people are so greedy. Wonder why people don’t realize that, you have to give something to get something.
